A New Kind Of Dock

Working with McCrumb Construction & Marine, we have developed a dock configuration that gives lakeshore owners the best chance of successfully reacting to variable lake levels in the future. Rather than a traditional “F” or “L” configuration, we now suggest what we call a “4” dock. This arrangement has the watercraft approach head into the slip, facing the shore. This will leave the stern drive, outboard motor, or v-drive in the deepest water. We can add what we refer to as a “flag” dock arm for temporary boat access and a hang-out space. This configuration does require a boat lift. Look for new “4 with a flag” docks around the lake.

We start with you

We will meet with you at your lake property, discuss your project needs and desires, and work together to develop solutions that reflect your unique situation. You will see timely progress and creative solutions.

Drawings

FLC creates accurate and attractive drawing packages of all our projects. These convey detailed information to the Owner in an easy to visualize format. The drawings also speed the regulatory review and permitting process. And contractors use the good documentation to provide firm cost estimates.

We also do 3-d modeling as needed to convey the overall character and details of the project.

Docks

It is hard to enjoy and access the lake without a dock. But how do you decide what dock configuration is best for you, that also meets the various regulations. We will help you determine the best solution for your needs and property. The lakeshore configuration plays a big role in what you can do. Here are some of the dock configurations that are commonly seen.

These docks were built by McCrumb Construction & Marine, Polson MT.

Boat Shelters

Your boat is a valuable asset, and many people ask for boat shelters to provide protection from the elements. The design can compliment the other structures on the property, or can be a unique statement. There are separate regulations regarding boat shelters and boat lifts. Flathead Lakeshore Consulting can help you through the design and permitting process.

Boat Rail Systems

Sometimes it’s best to just get your boat out of the lake altogether. We will help you decide if a powered boat rail system, usually coupled with a boat house or boat shelter on shore, is a good option for your property.

Shore Stations, PWC Lifts. SUP, Kayaks, Buoys

Your dock and lakeshore often need other equipment in order to function well and be enjoyable to use. We help plan for your boat and pwc lifts - to protect your watercraft from storms and high wave action. We can also help you create functional and attractive storage for your non-powered watercraft. For off-shore boat mooring we might decide on a mooring buoy.

Our Drone

We make extensive use of a camera-equipped drone. The imagery forms the base for almost all of our work, providing quick and accurate documentation of the existing conditions at your site.

Permits

Development on and near Flathead Lake is heavily regulated, and with good reason. Regulations play an important part in protecting the environment and protecting your property value. The lake, and the associated rivers, are subject to several, often overlapping, jurisdictions. Flathead Lakeshore Construction will help lead you through the maze!

Our projects are designed to comply with all applicable regulations and we have good relationships with all of the regulatory entities that help safeguard the lake and lakeshore.
